Smoking Cessation Support in Kitchener
Sit down with the pharmacist on duty at Greenbrook Pharmacy, 421 Greenbrook Drive, Kitchener, in our private consultation area, and talk it through properly. The appointment is funded for eligible patients, and you can come back as many times as you need to.
Who You Will Be Talking To
The pharmacist on duty — usually Nick. The same person each time, which matters here more than almost anywhere else, because the useful conversation is rarely the first one.
You will not get a lecture. You already know the reasons; that is not what this appointment is for.
Booking It
Ask at the pharmacy counter, or call (519) 742-9955. You are also welcome to simply ask a pharmacist a question at the counter without booking anything at all — plenty of people start that way.
This consultation is funded for eligible patients. Whether that includes you is our job to work out, not yours — ask when you book and we will check first, so nobody gets a surprise at the end.
What to Bring
- A list of what you currently take, or the boxes themselves
- Anything you have already tried for this, including the things that did not work
- Your Ontario health card
It also helps to have a rough sense of when you actually smoke — first thing, with coffee, driving, after work, when you are stressed. The pattern is more useful than the number.
What Happens When You Sit Down
He asks what you have tried before and what happened, and listens to the answer. Then you go through what your options look like from here, and what each one would actually involve day to day — not in the abstract, but against the pattern you just described.
Where something needs your doctor, he will say so and help you work out how to ask.
What You Walk Away With
A clear picture of what is available to you and what each option would mean in practice, rather than a shelf of boxes and no idea where to start.
You leave with a written summary as a matter of course, so you are not reconstructing the conversation from memory a week later.
Come Back As Often As You Need
This is the part that matters most. Almost nobody does this in one clean run, and starting again is not a failure — it is just what this usually looks like. If it did not stick, come back and we will pick it up from where you are, not from the beginning.
You do not need a new appointment to ask one question. A pharmacist is at the counter through the day, and you can call (519) 742-9955 instead of coming in.
